Lucy almost misses out on getting her anniversary present for spying on Ricky while he's with another girl, whom unknown to Lucy is actually a jeweler that's making Lucy's anniversary gift.

Lucy handcuffs herself to Ricky to try and get him to spend more time with her, but then she realizes that she doesn't have the key. The bad thing is that Ricky has to perform a show handcuffed to Lucy while they wait for a locksmith.

When the women's club is running short on funds for their play, Lucy and Ethel decide to write and star in the play. But when the check for the costumes and props bounces, the company begins to repossess their props and supplies right in the middle of the play.

Ricky and Fred bet Lucy and Ethel that working is harder than staying home and doing chores, so they decide to switch jobs with the boys doing the housework, and the girls going out and getting jobs.

Lucy decides to pretend that she is seeing another man to stop Ricky from leaving to go on tour after she fails at her saxophone audition for Ricky's band.

The Mertzes and Ricardos both take a week of vacation from their marriages to see if the time apart will help improve their relationships.

When Lucy and Ricky give Fred and Ethel a TV set as an anniversary present, Ricky's trying to fix it causes it to blow up. Fred then kicks in the Ricardo's TV set, which ends them all up in court.

Lucy refuses to leave the house while waiting to receive word on whether or not she's won a contest to get her apartment redecorated. This annoys Ricky so much that he decides to have Fred call Lucy and tell her that she's won, but Ricky never bargained on having to buy back all of his old furniture back when Lucy believes the phony call and sells all of the furniture.

Lucy throws together a crazy ensemble of a cast after Ricky loses his voice and can't perform at the big reopening celebration for the Tropicana.

Ricky tries to get Lucy to stop being a sucker for a sales pitch.
